Global Leaders Day & Boarding Primary School

In countries like Uganda, where more than 50% of the population is under the age of 18, the power of the classroom cannot be denied. We believe that by investing in the education of children from the most rural villages, we can equip and empower them with the tools to break cycles of poverty and solve issues facing their own communities. Working alongside local leaders, we’ve launched our own model primary school and invest in improving learning environments for all students in the districts where we work.

Showing what’s possible in rural education

While schools in rural Uganda are crumbling due to a lack of investment & resources, we aim to motivate parents and community members to see the value in investing in their child’s education by giving kids in rural Uganda the school experience they deserve.

We are proud to be making steady progress toward our vision to create a self-sustainable, community-centric model school through Global Leaders which will equip our students with the tools, mentorship and guidance they need to become agents of change in their own communities. In the next three years, Global Leaders will serve part time as a teacher training hosting center where educators from our partner schools can attend career development & training workshops, thus uplifting the quality of education across northern Uganda.

For every 10 students who attend GLP, one orphan is chosen by the community (church groups, mosques and local leaders) to attend GLP on a full boarding scholarship. This program is fully funded and organized by the parents of our students!

Play as a Priority

Global Leaders Primary (GLP) is one of the only schools in our region with a full sized community playground and football field. We believe that play is essential to a child’s development and have created intentional spaces where kids can be kids.

Going the Distance for students through COVID-19

COVID-19 temporarily closed our doors in March of 2020 and sent our students back to their homes. However, thanks to our community of Advocates and supporters like you, we were able to keep all of our Teachers employed and continue to provide our students with 1:1 tutoring and home visits during their time away from school. Check out our blog to read more about how we’ve pivoted our work through the pandemic.
