Founded on purpose, for impact:

to break cycles of poverty, forever.

While talent is distributed equally, opportunity is not. We are a community of friends who believe that where you’re born shouldn’t determine your access to wealth, health or education. We need you to join us in Advocating for educational equity and opportunity for children in rural communities so that cycles of poverty can be broken forever.

who we are

We are a global community of Advocates, friends, and local leaders working together to improve resources in rural villages that impact the lives of children.

vision & approach

We believe that kids have the power to transform their own communities, so we’re helping to provide the tools they need so that cycles of poverty are broken forever.

Our Story

Friendship Changes Everything

JaymeCollz.jpg

Co-Founders Collines Angwech (Namasale, UG) and Jayme Ward (Lakewood, CO) met in 2011 when Collines toured Jayme’s high school with the nonprofit organization, Invisible Children, sharing her experiences growing up in war-torn Northern Uganda. The two instantly bonded over a shared dream to give kids around the world access to the tools to transform their own communities. Together, they created Far Away Friends & Global Leaders Primary School with the intent to inspire young future leaders to create change through education, connection & global citizenship.

Collines lives in Lira, Uganda full time with her children and manages our programs and staff on the ground as Far Away Friends’ Uganda Country Director. Jayme is based in Denver, Colorado and manages the US side of our organization full time as Executive Director.
